Plants are equipped with various sensors, which enable them to perceive essential information from their surroundings. Based on this information, they are able to adapt to a wide range of growth conditions. The perception of environmental signals by plants and the mechanisms by which they adapt to altered growth conditions are the main topic of my research. Emphasis is given to signal perception and transduction in guard cells, which provoke the opening and closure of stomatal pores in the leaf surface.
